Pearl Moon Flower

Our commitment to a circular economy

Pearl Moon Flower was founded in response to the immense waste created by the fashion industry. After extensive research into how and why this waste exists, the brand was built around a circular economy model rather than the traditional take-make-waste system. A circular economy keeps materials in use, eliminates waste where possible, and takes responsibility for what already exists. This framework guides every decision we make, from design and material sourcing to packaging and long-term garment care.

Eliminating waste and pollution

Waste reduction begins at the design stage.

Pearl Moon Flower actively works to minimise waste by reimagining existing garments and materials rather than producing unnecessarily new ones. Our Reimagined lines, including collaborations such as the Lulu Zagame project, transform existing garments, deadstock, and surplus materials into new pieces with renewed value.

This approach will continue to expand. Pearl Moon Flower is developing as a circularity partner for other fashion businesses, supporting them in transitioning excess stock and unused garments back into meaningful circulation rather than landfill.

When we create original collections, they are designed specifically to function within a circular system. Waste is considered from the very beginning, not addressed later.

Circulating products and materials at their highest value

Circularity is not simply about reuse. It is about maintaining value for as long as possible.

We design garments to be worn, repaired, returned, and transformed. When a Pearl Moon Flower piece reaches the end of its first life with a customer, it is intended to return to the studio. From there, it may be renewed, reworked, or reimagined into a new form, allowing the material to continue its journey rather than becoming waste.

Designer deadstock materials are carefully sourced and used intentionally within our Reimagined collections. These materials are treated as valuable resources, not compromises.

Each garment is designed as part of an ongoing loop rather than a final product.

Regenerating nature through responsible material choices

In our original collections, material selection prioritises regeneration and responsibility.

We source fabrics and components that are plastic free where possible, including natural fibres, biodegradable fusing, and natural buttons. Materials are chosen not only for aesthetics and quality, but for their ability to safely return to natural systems at the end of their life.

In Reimagined collections, some garments may include a small percentage of synthetic materials. These are existing materials that we choose not to discard. Instead, we use them responsibly and retain accountability for them when the garment returns to us.

Avoiding waste is as important as avoiding harm.

Designed for circularity

Every Pearl Moon Flower garment is designed with circular principles in mind. Our design process aligns with key circular economy elements, including designing for the future, extending product life, using waste as a resource, prioritising regenerative materials, and creating collaborative value.

This is achieved through:

Durability

Garments are constructed for long-term wear using high-quality materials and careful finishing. Silhouettes are designed to be timeless rather than trend-driven, allowing pieces to remain relevant across years rather than seasons.

Emotional longevity

Designs aim to create lasting emotional connection, encouraging care, repair, and continued use rather than disposal.

Cyclability

Where possible, original garments are designed using monofibres and low-impact finishes. Complicating elements that hinder repair, reuse, or recycling are designed out from the beginning.

Circularity is not added later. It is embedded into the design itself.

Sewing

Beyond the garment

Circular responsibility extends beyond clothing.

Packaging is selected with the same care as our materials. Garments are shipped in boxes sourced from responsible forestry practices, with swing tags printed through FSC-certified partners. Each piece is delivered in a 100% organic cotton dust bag, designed to be reused and to protect the garment over time.

An evolving system

Pearl Moon Flower is a growing studio, and circularity is an ongoing practice rather than a finished state.

While no system is perfect, we are committed to continual progress, research, and accountability. As the studio grows, our circular processes will evolve with intention, always guided by the belief that fashion can exist without unnecessary waste.
